How to block Reddit on iPhone
Reddit has two easy ways back in: the app and the website. Set a boundary for the route you actually use, or cover both so a blocked app does not become a browser habit.
Free blocks one app or website. Pro lets you block more with monthly, yearly, and lifetime options.
Short answer
Block the app and check the website
Use Screen Time App Limits for a daily Reddit allowance, then restrict reddit.com separately if Safari becomes the workaround. Or use FlowBuddy to shield the app or website and add a breathing pause before a short visit.

Block Reddit with FlowBuddy
This approach fits when Reddit is useful for specific questions or communities, but opening the feed has become automatic.
- 1Install FlowBuddy. Download it from the App Store and complete the Apple Screen Time permission setup.
- 2Choose your main route. Select the Reddit app, or choose reddit.com if you mostly browse in Safari or another browser.
- 3Keep it shielded by default. Add an allowed schedule if Reddit is useful during a particular part of your day.
- 4Open for a reason. Take the breathing pause and choose a 5 or 10-minute access window when you need a specific thread or answer.
Built into iPhone
Limit the Reddit app with Screen Time
- 1Open Settings, tap Screen Time, and turn on App & Website Activity if needed.
- 2Open App Limits, tap Add Limit, and select Reddit.
- 3Choose a daily allowance, customize the days if useful, and save the limit.
- 4Open Reddit after the allowance ends and confirm the restriction behaves the way you expect.
Menu labels can change by iOS version and region. Use Apple's current Screen Time schedule and allowance guide if your settings look different.
Close the browser route
Restrict reddit.com separately
An app limit does not reliably describe what should happen in a browser. If you move to Reddit's website when the app is unavailable, add a website restriction too.
- 1In Settings → Screen Time, open Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn it on.
- 2Open the web content controls. The exact path can differ between iOS versions.
- 3Choose the option that exposes a Never Allow list, then add reddit.com.
- 4Test a Reddit link in every browser you normally use. Adjust the restriction if a route you use still opens.
See Apple's guide to blocking websites on iPhone. Reddit's App Store listing also confirms that its communities and discussions are available through the iPhone app.
Choose the useful boundary
Match the method to your Reddit habit
You want a daily allowance
Use an App Limit, then test what happens after the allowance ends.
You scroll during work or bedtime
Use Downtime for repeating hours and review which apps remain allowed.
You open Reddit without noticing
Use FlowBuddy to create a pause before access and make the visit time-limited.
You switch between app and browser
Cover both routes. In FlowBuddy, that means two separate selections and requires Pro.
FAQ
Reddit blocking questions
Can I block Reddit on iPhone without deleting it?
Yes. Apple Screen Time can place a daily limit on the Reddit app and restrict reddit.com separately. FlowBuddy can shield the app or website while keeping short, deliberate access available.
Does blocking the Reddit app also block reddit.com?
Not automatically. The Reddit app and reddit.com are separate routes. Test both after setup so moving from the app to a browser does not bypass the boundary you intended.
Can FlowBuddy block the Reddit app and website?
Yes. In FlowBuddy, the app and website are separate selections. The free plan blocks one app or one website; covering both requires FlowBuddy Pro.
Can I still open Reddit briefly when I need an answer?
FlowBuddy can offer a breathing pause followed by a 5 or 10-minute access window. This is designed for intentional visits rather than an indefinite unblock.
Make your next Reddit visit intentional
Start with the route that takes the most attention. Block one app or website free, then upgrade only if you need to cover both or block more.
